FEAD ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN HELSINKI
Innovative Waste Management – Greening the European Economy
Following the opening speeches from the Head of the Waste Management Department of the Polish ministry of the Environment highlighting the key priorities of the Polish EU Presidency and from the Permanent Secretary of the Finnish ministry of the Environment, William Neale, member of the Cabinet of the EU Commissioner for the Environment Janez Potocnik, will open the morning session and introduce the Flagship initiative on ‘Resource Efficiency Europe’.
Sirpa Pietikainen, Member of the European Parliament, and Abraao Carvalho, Head of Unit at DG Enterprise and Industry, are included among the keynote speakers of the second session dedicated to innovation in the waste management sector. A third and last session will deal with better implementation of the waste legislative acquis and will include the keynote speeches of Rosalinde Van Der Vlies, Deputy Head of the Waste Management Unit at DG Environment, and Zofia Tucinska, Chair of IMPEL.
This year, FEAD is celebrating its 30th anniversary. We are therefore honoured to inform you that Mr. Norbert Rethmann, second President of FEAD, will give a keynote address at our welcome dinner on Thursday, 29 September.
The welcome dinner is preceded by a site visit to the first waste treatment facility in the world using artificial intelligence robots for the sorting of waste. This visit takes place at 16hrs on Thursday, 29 of September.
